16th Century olive-oil mill museum

In the town centre, near the church square there is an olive-oil mill museum -Almazara-, it has been recently restored and transformed into a museum.

In this museum we can see how people made olive-oil out of olives. You can read all the explanations on the walls or listen to the guide.

Zayas' House

(16th Century palace)

The Casa Zayas (Zayas' house) is an old little palace where Zayas Family lived. When the last woman of Zayas dinasty died without children, all her possessions went to a fundation.

In the nineties, Nigüelas Town hall rebuilt the palace and this place became its seat.

Nowadays, neighbours and visitors can enjoy this building and its gardens.

Romantic Garden

The Romantic Garden is in Zayas' Palace. It is always opened to all the people who want to enjoy its beauty, its peculiar corners and the sound of fountains.

Old arab water tank - Aljibe -

In the church square there is still one of the many aljibes that used to bring water to our neighbours in the old times.

16th Century Church

San Juan Bautista's Church is really a piece of work. Do not forget visiting its altarpiece on the high altar, its mudejar style coffered ceiling, and, on its square, the cobbled paving, recently restored.

Razuela Park

If you wish to enjoy a picnic day near the village, you can go to Razuela park, on the side of the Zahor mountain.

In this little natural environment, placed in Sierra Nevada Natural Park, we can enjoy a fabulous view of Lecrin Valley, while we're cooking something in one of its barbacoas.

In Razuela Park there is a football pitch and a sports court.

This photo shows the sight from Razuela Park.

Inhabited caves

In the top of the village, there are some caves where some people still live. They are private, but they are very interesting places to visit. You can enjoy the view of the river there and... if you are lucky it is possible that somebody invites you to see his home.

Nigüelas Fault

Nice walk with a geological interest, the Nigüelas-Padul-Dúrcal fault is on the top of the village, under Razuela Park.

This fault, that is very much visited by university students, has recently been declared natural monument.
